Collection: Susan Lea Wilcox

Susan Lea Wilcox is a talented oil painter based in Tidewater, known for her vibrant, high-contrast impressionistic landscapes and nature-inspired collages. Her love for art began during her time as a student at Norfolk Academy, where she first discovered her passion for painting. After earning a BA in Studio Art from Sweet Briar College, Susan has dedicated herself to the craft of oil painting. Upon graduation Susan began a career as an art educator.

In 2017, Susan was commissioned to illustrate and co-write Fantastic Forgeries: How to Paint like Van Gogh. This project deeply influenced her style, infusing her work with a new impressionistic energy. Following the book's completion, Susan pursued a graphic design degree, which led her to a career in advertising in Brooklyn, NY.

In 2020, Susan returned to her roots in Virginia Beach, where she blends her graphic design expertise with her painting. By digitally combining various natural elements, she creates vibrant compositions that inspire her engaging, joyful artwork. Her unique approach combines both traditional and digital techniques, resulting in dynamic, colorful paintings that capture the beauty of nature in bold, expressive ways.
