Robert L. Cobb

The Artist: Robert (Rob) L. Cobb creates wood art specializing in turned segmented bowls, plates, and cutting boards. After careers as a Naval aviator and a mathematics teacher, he started turning wood in 2014. Rob joined the Tidewater Turners, took classes from Woodcraft in Norfolk, and began designing and creating both functional and creative wood art. The segmented wood art combines locally collected native woods with various exotic woods. Woods are their natural color and are never stained. Designs are original with the artist, inspired by a love of geometry with varying colors and patterns. The finish is a food safe oil/urethane with a satin appearance. The bowls are not fragile and are designed and constructed to be used and enjoyed.
