Collection: Kay R. Hofler

Kay Hofler has been a professional artist and a member of The Artists Gallery, located at 532 Virginia Beach Blvd., since 1997. She has exhibited in many local shows and her work is in many private and public collections throughout the United States.
Kay holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education from Longwood University and a Master of Arts Degree in Humanities from Old Dominion University with concentration in painting and art history. She is currently retired from the Virginia Beach School System after an award winning career as an art teacher and Fine Arts Department Chair.

Artist’s Statement

I am a painter of natural forms, who enjoys the movement and three dimensional quality of plants, flowers, shells, vegetables, fruits and still life objects. I prefer to paint close-up views in a large format using oil medium on canvas. The large format gives me the opportunity to create a more dynamic impact that emphasizes the beauty found in natural and sometimes man-made forms. Creating art, for me, is a way of coming in touch with that beauty and to fulfill a spiritual need that is an important part of human existence.

Currently my work can be seen at the Virginia Beach Art Center where I rent studio space and at Beach Gallery and in various local shows and exhibits.
